William TempleFrequently asked questions
Do I need to have diabetes to receive care?
No. We provide medical pedicures to anyone, with or without diabetes. No medical condition is required.
Do I need a referral?
No. You can book a medical pedicure directly, online or by phone.
What should I expect during my appointment?
Your nurse starts with a foot health assessment, then washes your feet, trims and files your nails, pares down calluses and corns, and finishes with a moisturizing treatment. They'll also address specific concerns like cracked heels, ingrown toenails, or fungal nails. Appointments take about 45 minutes.
What are the benefits of regular foot care?
Regular care catches problems early, which lowers the risk of ulcers, infections, and other complications. This matters most for people with diabetes — up to one in three will develop a foot ulcer in their lifetime.
What does it cost?
A medical pedicure is $90.
It isn't covered by AHS or Alberta Blue Cross. Many extended health plans cover part of the cost — we provide a receipt for you to submit, but we don't bill insurers directly. It may also be claimable as a medical expense on your taxes.
Do you have podiatrists?
No. Our foot care is provided by certified foot care nurses — LPNs and RNs with advanced foot care training. They treat most common nail and skin problems. If you need a podiatrist, for example for orthotics or surgery, we'll let you know.
Can someone come with me?
Yes. Support people are welcome to join you in the treatment room.
